How do I add images one per row instead of two per row?

Hi, I have been using the library gallery display to upload my images. However, I have to choose 2-9 columns per row to insert my images and the images come out too small. I would like to insert one image per row. I have tried use maximize the size of the image, but it doesn’t help. Can any one help me?

In the gallery column choice under Gallery settings, the minimum number I can choose is 2, I would like to have 1 picture per column. Do you know how I can do that? Your help is highly appreciated.

Switch the editor to html and change the gallery shortcode to this:
[gallery columns="1"]

I tried what you have suggested. Although the images does show in one per column, the image size remain the same, which is too small to view. I figured another way to do insert image one per column by going to the “Media Library” instead of going to “Gallery” and click on the “Insert into Post” button under the image I want to insert. This works out well, except that I have to do it one by one; I can’t insert all images at once. Does any one know a short cut of doing this?
