How do I archive previous posts to another page?
-
I have the free blog subscription and I want to only post my most recent blog post on the home page, but archive the previous posts to another page. I am having trouble figuring out how to do this. I figured out the archive option, but every single post still shows on the home page. Also, how would I go about moving my previous posts to a Previous Post dedicated page?

HI @hippiechick427, are you hoping to just show the latest post on the front page, then maybe have all of the other recent posts on a posts page? If so, you might consider adding a static front page.
Try this:
– Add a new page. Use the block editor.
– Add a “Recent Posts” block. Set it to show one block. You can do other stuff to the page as you’d like.
Then preview it to see if it would make a good front page. If it would, call it Home or whatever you’d like, and publish it.
Then
– Add another page; keep it blank; publish it with a name like Archives or Past Articles or whatever
– Head to My Site > Customize > Front Page.
– Set the first page to be your static front page
– Set the other page to be your posts page.
Finally, add a menu so you can link to the posts page easily.
If you need help with any of this, let us know.

My home page still shows every single blog post I have posted. How do I get it to only post one article? When I set my Latest Posts page as the home page, it posted every single article I had ever written instead of only posting the five most recent posts like I set it to.

My home page still shows every single blog post I have posted
That is how the posts page on WordPress sites work – the posts page shows the feed of all posts published on your site, with the most recent at the top. You can set it to only load a certain number of posts at a time, but once you reach the bottom, the next posts will always load.
it posted every single article I had ever written instead of only posting the five most recent posts like I set it to.
This is because you also have Infinite Scroll enabled. With Infinite Scroll your site automatically loads the next posts on the list once you reach the bottom. If you don’t want that to happen, you can turn Infinite Scroll off at https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/hippiedolllover.home.blog, then older posts will only load when you click a button to load them.
I was able to get my site where I wanted it for now
I see you’ve used the new Recent Posts block on a static front page instead. That’s also an option, yes.
