How do I change file names / file URLs?

  I uploaded a picture then deleted it and then uploaded it again. Now the file name has a “1” behind it – as have the fil URL. How can I get rid of this?

  You can’t when it comes to media. If you’ve named the file the same as a previously uploaded file, WPcom appends a number to make sure the existing file is not overwritten. Because the back-end deleted file cache for media is cleared out about once every three days, WPcom treats it as if the file is still there. You could wait or simply name the file something else prior to uploading.
