How do I change my domain?

amsacsusb.org was our old website domain through tumblr. I created a new website for our organization through wordpress – amsacsusb.wordpress.com. I went back to our tumblr account and changed our old website’s domain from amsacsusb.org to amsacsusb.tumblr.com to to free up the domain to be used on our new wordpress website, but it did not work when I changed it under settings on wordpress. What should I do?
That is all I wish to accomplish.
