How do I change my name server?

  I need to change my name server. I am not tech savy and have no clue what to do.

  Yes, but this morning I began the process of switching it over to GoDaddy.

  I’m having a simalar problem and am also not tech savy. I have my blog all setup, have domain name with GoDaddy and want to host it @ my hostgator account. How to I change the name servers from WP to hostgator.

  First off, you would need to have the DNS stuff from godaddy. Then you go into the domain management area and put in the new nameserver stuff.

  It will take 24-72 hours typically for the change to propagate through all the internet name servers although most times it will be 12-24 hours.

  @avieanna, we don’t do support for godaddy or hostgator. You will have to talk with godaddy and hostgator to figure out what you need to do. Generally it is a matter of changing your domain name so it points to hostgator, but you have to do the nameserver change over at godaddy.

  Hey sacred path thanks for the quick reply.
  I don’t think I made my self clear enough, sorry.
  I setup a new blog-http://fatburningfurnace1725.wordpress.com than got the domain name FatBurningFurnace-Explained.com so I changed the address to the new blog and want to host it @ hostgator. I changed the nameservers and they have all propergated-think that word is right-now I want to upload it to hostgator.
  I hope this is clearer.

  I keep getting errors. I am spending hours on something that sounded like would be easy.

  Error: This does not match any of the DNS record formats.

  Is there a contact # for wordpress?

  I am getting discouraged.

  avieanna, you’ve got to export your content from here and import it into your hostgator space. That’s on the dashboard under Tools.

  georgetownlacrosseblog, let me see if I have this right. You want to move http://georgetownlacrosseblog.wordpress.com/ the URL off WordPress.com? Or what URL exactly?

  There is no phone number for WordPress.com

  Thanks for your continued support.

  I want to move http://georgetownlacrosseblog.com from wordpress.com to godaddy. Godaddy told me to I “Need to change the nameservers to (certain names and IP address).”

  @george – did Godaddy also let you know that you need to install WordPress.ORG software on their site and move your content to their site?
