How do I connect my wordpress website to wordpress.com

  Hi everyone

  I might be really stupid, but for some reason when I try to go to mysite on wordpress.com (which apparently I need to do to stop an email address being redirected to another email address by wordpress) WordPress.com tells me i have no wordpress website, which isn’t the case.

  When I try to add my wordpress website, wordpress.com wants me to make a new website.

  This is a website that i have inherited with a business I purchased.

  Can anyone help?

  Hi there,

  What site are you trying to access?

  The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here indeed doesn’t own any sites, and based on our logs, never has.

  We also don’t have any control over any emails you might own – for you to have email set up with us, you’d need to have a domain hosted with us, which is a paid upgrade, and you’ve never bought any upgrades from us either.

  You are probably using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider instead, in which case you need to contact that hosting provider for help.

  Hi

  I’ve already contacted my server, and they have said it’s nothing to do with them – it’s something I need to change on wordpress. Is it one of the settings on the website, then?

  That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  If you want to connect your WordPress.org site to WordPress.com, you’ll need to use the Jetpack plugin: https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/

  Ah, OK thanks. I must have been misinformed.

  I don’t really need to connect then i suppose, if it’s nto somethign that needs to be doen on WOrdpress.com. I just want to prevent the emails redirecting! Not sure where to go to help. :) WordPress.org? Thanks all the same

  Email is usually managed through your hosting provider, so I recommend checking with them again. :)

  We can only assist in managing your email if your site is hosted through us and you have a domain mapped here, which is definitely not the case.
