How do i delete my old wordpress.com domain after upgrading to a custom domain?
-
Hi there,
Yesterday I bought a new domain – hypophora.net – to replace my old one – smalltowngrrl.wordpress.com. I would really like to delete smalltowngrrl.wordpress.com altogether, is there any way I can do this?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(to clarify- i am aware that hypophora.net is now my primary domain, and that any traffic to the old url will be redirected, but I would really like the old url to just not exist any more. :)

..I have also noticed that the link to my new url has failed to update on my gravatar profile, despite me changing the link manually in the settings on both wordpress and gravatar. Help! (please :) )

Hi there,
Your site’s free address smalltowngrrl.wordpress.com address is an internal address that we use to make sure nothing ever happens to your site’s content, even if your custom domain hypophora.net expires or you decide to stop using it. All WordPress.com sites with a custom domain also have a free WordPress.com address that you’ll see behind the scenes.
If you’d like to change your WordPress.com address, for example to make it match your custom domain, you can do so by following these instructions: Changing a Blog Address
Keep in mind that this is purely for your benefit, as the WordPress.com name change will be invisible to the visitors to your site.
I have also noticed that the link to my new url has failed to update on my gravatar profile, despite me changing the link manually in the settings on both wordpress and gravatar. Help! (please :) )
You can change that on your Gravatar profile from your profile settings here:
http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/#verified-services
You can remove the link to your free WordPress.com address from there and add a new link to your new domain name.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
