How do I edit a category name when the slug is already in use by another term?

    Every time I attempt to edit a category name I get the message that I cannot change it because “the slug is already in use by another term.” I have searched every inch of the support section and cannot find guidance on how to overcome this problem.

    Hi there,

    Each category slug has to be unique and not already in use by another category or tag on your blog. WordPress.com creates the slug based on the name of the category (so, for example, the category Dogs & Cats will be given the slug dogs-cats), so if the name you’re trying to use matches another category on your blog you won’t be able to change it.

    Could you let me know what category name you’re trying to edit and what category name you’d like to use instead? I can take a look at your blog and help out with that.
