How do I finish move from .com to .org without site access?

I want to add paypal to my wordpress site, [removed]. I understand from the help and forum pages that I need to change from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I followed instructions to sign up with a host (I chose Dreamhost) and did a successful import but the site still showed up as wordpress.com at the bottom. So I followed some other suggestions, to point my domain name servers on the site where I registered my domain (1and1) away from wordpress and to dreamhost instead. I also bought wordpress mapping to attach the domain to the wordpress site. The next recommended step was to point the domain name servers in my wordpress store to dreamhost too, however since changing my dns at dreamhost I can no longer access my site at wordpress. I just get the wordpress welcome and installation page. Really would appreciate some help as have spent a very frustrating week trying to get this sorted and can’t seem to find a solution in the forums. Bests Caroline Ambrose

Everything appears to be right, but you’ll need to finish installing WordPress on your Dreamhost account. I have removed the link above so one else maliciously does it for you.
Since this is now a WordPress.org blog, not a WordPress.com blog, we won’t be able to help you.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress via their Codex and Support Forums.

Thank you so much for you reply. My host advised me to point my name servers back at wordpress to get my site back and working under my domain name, which has worked, but I think I may still seem be on .com.
Is it possible for my site to now be on .org if I still have .com showing at the bottom of my web page? Or would it be showing .org if I had made the move? I am sure this dounds like a dumb question, but because the import and export seemed to work okay I am not sure.

PS This is the message I got after my import/export which also makes me think I stayed .com. Feel like I’m being very thick, but it just looks to me like I’m importing and exporting .com rather than moving to .org.:-

http://bathshortstoryaward.co.uk/ is still a WordPress.com-hosted blog.
You would need to point the name servers back to Dreamhost and finish the installation there to have a self-hosted blog.
