how do I fix a dark picture?

  • Unknown's avatar

I uploaded a jpeg picture to use as my header. It is very dark. It is not the theme, I tried a different theme. Please be very simple with your help. I used WordPress about 5 years ago and it was much more user friendly! Do I have to pay now to get it to look right? I really liked WordPress, and hope I can stay with it, but will try something else if its too complicated and time-consuming to get up and running. Thank you so much for taking the time. Lisa

  • Hi Lisa –

Thanks for writing to us. I’m taking a look at this now and will report back.

For reference, there’s a theme setup instruction page and a live demo.

Neither of those show an opacity filter on the header image like your site is showing now. Did you say this happened on more than one theme?

  • Your site is set up using a featured image on the front page, which has the opacity filter in place. We can remove that with CSS but it requires an upgrade.

The better option would be to set up the site mirroring the demo. Instead of the featured image it uses the a cover block.

This is the theme demo: https://calmbusinessdemo.wordpress.com/

    And the setup instructions: https://wordpress.com/theme/calm-business/

I hope this helps. Write back with any follow up questions.
