How do I get flickr and Goodreads widgets to work?
-
flickr – does not display photos although my flickr settings are public.
And I have the same problem with Goodreads.
I have cleared my cache, and foloowed the WP advised steps but still to no avail! The Goodreads problem has been sticking me for a few months now. Help??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Regarding your Flickr widget, could you please try this:
ind your Flickr RSS feed, go to your photostream and click the “Edit” tab at the top. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the RSS icon or the Latest link. Right click on either and copy the URL. Paste this into the Flickr RSS URL field in your widget.
And did you follow the instructions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/goodreads-widget/#goodreads-user-id to setup the Goodreads widget?

Thanks for replying Kardotim! Unfortunately my Flickr account does not have an ‘edit’ button option on my photostream! I’m running it on my PC, and cannot see an edit button anywhere. I’m starting to think I’m running a different set-up to everyone else. Also, I’m no technophobe, and can usually find my way around a site… but maybe I can’t see the wood for the trees right now…
Re: Goodreads widget – I simply get a bunch of HTML and then the Goodreads logo appear on my page. GR are helping me via email, but again, nothing seems to be working…

Kardotim – just found this solution to the flickr problem!
Hope it can help others! It worked for me :)

The Goodreads dilemma still hasn’t been resolved, rootjosh! At the moment, all I have is a simple GR banner taking people to my GR page, whereas I’d rather have my GR updates on my blog page…

Could you have mixed up author ID and user ID?
Note for GoodReads Authors: Your author ID may not match your user id. If you enter the id as retrieved above and it doesn’t display your bookshelf, you’ll need to fetch your ID from your public author page. You may need to log out of GoodReads first (or have a friend help you). Visit your author page, and then hover over or click the “add as a friend” or “send message” link on the left under your author photo.

Thanks root, but that’s the response I found first of all! Goodreads message me today and said that their widgets don’t work properly on WordPress sites!
-
Hmmm, well that is interesting. I will have to look into that. Thank you for passing that along.
