How do I get my posts to show up as individual pages under categories?

Hi, I am trying to get something like a drop-down menu under each category, ie I have 2 categories: Short stories and poems. Each category has several posts, but I want them to show up separately not on a continuous roll. Also want to see the titels of each story under its relevant category. Is that possible?

(1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog.
(2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page and have your published posts display on another page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ but doing that does not change what follows.
Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

I am wondering how you made it so that you have a link to each post you made under your categories widget? You have the “Articles” category, and then “Film” as the sub category, and then you have the posts all listed for the reader to choose which one they want to see. How did you acheive this?

Hi Heidi,
I just made a new category for each individual piece, gave it the same title as the piece and put each one under a “parent” category. Does that make sense? So for example, I created the “Articles” category, then created the “film” one and assigned it under “Articles” as the “Parent” category, then created yet another category, named it (i.e) “Oldies but Goodies”, assigned that one under both “Film” and “Articles” and then assigned the article under that one.
It sounds really complicated but it wasn’t, just a somewhat covoluted way to create a visible menu with subcategories. I don’t know if WordPress has a limit of how many categories you can create, I am new to this…. Guess I’ll find out!
If there is an actual way or theme to create that same effect, I’d love to hear tips! I’m still using the free subscription until I see how it all goes and if I want to keep it up / expand on it :)
Also – timethief – thank you for your reply above – I thought I’d try my way first with a few posts and then delve deeper into the “instruction manual” when I had more time :) Will check out your blog too x

Yes. Any theme that displays full posts on the index pages will do this, but you have to set the blog to show only one post at a time.

Yeah from what I could work out, I thought that might be the case. As long as I can have unlimited categories, that should work. Otherwise I’ll re-jig it when I run out! :)
