How do I get widgets to show up in my sidebar?

I can’t get the widgets I’ve chosen to show up in the sidebar. I’ve tried various options on the visibility menu, in each case, but none of them show up in the sidebar. What am I doing wrong? It’s driving me nuts!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Probably the fastest “cure” is to remove the widgets to the Available Widgets area, which will erase all their current settings and then add them back one by one.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i don’t think that will resolve it. By trying different options on the visibility menus I’ve got my chosen widgets to show up on ‘Front Page’, but I’m not clear what exactly the ‘Front Page’ is. When the blog first comes up there are no widgets visible in the sidebar, but if I click on the Lesley Hayes name under my picture at the top, they miraculously appear. So what exactly is the ‘Front Page’? I think I should have filled in another menu somewhere along the line!

No worries, but that is still my suggestion. If you’d rather not do that, then simply open each widget separately and delete whatever visibility settings you’ve added and re-save the widget.

The front page of your site is here: lesleysky.wordpress.com and that is what is called the “Posts Page” because it contains all your published posts. If you had a static front page it would be “Front Page”.

If you currently click on a single post view like this lesleysky.wordpress.com/2014/02/19/yonis-vigil/ all your widgets disappear.

So again, if you want the widgets to appear everywhere, then either delete all the visibility settings you may have added or start from scratch. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
