How do I get www to show on my domain name that I mapped to wordpress?
I recently mapped my domain name to my wordpress site, and it shows without www.
Blog url: http://societyofantiochs.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We actually strip out the www. for your convenience, and http://www.antiochs.com/ will always redirect to http://antiochs.com/
www is an old protocol from back when everything was under separate server hardware. www (www.example.com) was the web server, mail (mail.example.com) was the mail server, ftp (ftp.example.com) was the FTP server, print (print.example.com) was the print server, etc.
These days, everything is run under the web server, making www. redundant and a waste of four characters.

Thank you for your reply macmanx, which helps me understand the “what”.
Could you help me understand a couple of things?
1. How much of the web is actually transitioning from the old protocol? Naturally ignorant people like myself tend to prefer the comfort zone of seeing the familiar “www.”, but an idea of what the trend is, will help me see the value in converting to the new.
2. Does this affect (google) searches for our domain name in any way?
3. Does it create issues anywhere, such as links, DNS settings, any other settings etc?
If there are issues in 2. or 3., how do I resolve them?
Thanks,

1. Quite a few sites actually, the change began in 2003. The extra www. is really redundant and unnecessary.
2. There is no impact on your search results.
3. There are no addition issues as antiochs.com has always been exactly the same as http://www.antiochs.com, it’s just four characters shorter.
