how do I keep my site name but change the format to an e commerce store?

  • Unknown's avatar

I originally named my site dandwgiftsonline. It was a blog format instead of an e commerce format which I mistakenly chose. I just set up a free e commerce account with woo themes and chose a theme called Wootique to try it out. How do I make wootique work with the name of my original account (dandwgiftsonline)? If I delete the original blog account I won’t be able to use it’s name. Is this possible?

    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,

Themes purchased elsewhere can’t be uploaded to sites hosted on WordPress.com. On WordPress.com, you can choose any of our free or premium themes and add eCommerce features to them. You can view all of our available themes and filter them by specific criteria in our theme showcase.

Themes purchased elsewhere, like the Wootique theme you purchased, can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org to learn more.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Thank you for the prompt answer. I’m not to familiar with this environment. No wonder I couldn’t get the Wootique theme to open up or work by trying to change the blog I downloaded from wordpress.com. I choose the Wootique theme because I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in an e-commerce site before knowing how e-commerce works. Unfortunately I’ll be deleting the two downloads from WordPress.com as they weren’t what I was looking for. Thanks again. Have a great 4th of July weekend.

    John
