How do I make a new wordpress site while leaving my old non-wordpress site up?

    My site (bacheinfo.org) is hosted on tierra.net. I have installed wordpress on tierra.net. I already have a site that is not a wordpress site, and I would like to redesign the site using wordpress, leaving my current site up there until I’m done re-designing, and then publish my wordpress site.

    Also, I have purchased a theme from another site and downloaded it, but currently when I click on Themes, it doesn’t give me the option to install a theme.

    Hi there – You’ve reached support for the free sites hosted at WordPress.com.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

    The site http://bacheinfo.wordpress.com/ is hosted here at WordPress.com and we can help you out with that one if you intend to use it. Themes cannot be uploaded to WordPress.com sites, but you can use any of the over 200 themes here: http://theme.wordpress.com/

    If you’d like to map your domain bacheinfo.org to that bacheinfo.wordpress.com site, you can do so by updating its name servers as described here:

    For your Tierra-hosted site, you can find support here:
    http://wordpress.org/support/
    http://codex.wordpress.org/

    You might also need to contact Tierra’s support for some issues.

    Hello! Thanks for the info. Yes, I purchased that upgrade thinking that I needed to do it if I wanted bacheinfo.org to point to a wordpress site. But if I was wrong about that, it would be lovely to have a refund.

    Since I installed wordpress on my tierra account, I suppose now I need to figure out how to make a site in wordpress that will be hosted on tierra.org, if I’m understanding things correctly.

    Hi there – yes, correct. The upgrades you’d purchased only apply to sites hosted here at WordPress.com. Since you intend to host your WordPress site elsewhere, I’ve refunded them for now. You should see that refund on your statement in about a week. :)
