How do I point my GoDaddy domain at my WordPress.com Business Site

We have finished up creation of our WordPress site and would like to point our domain name at our new site. We currently have a ‘test’ domain handling things and would like to shift from the test domain to our production domain.

  • Hi there,

To what site do you want to point your domain? The account you’re using to post here was created less than a day ago, and owns no sites on WordPress.com, business or otherwise.

To use a domain registered elsewhere with a site hosted on WordPress.com you need a paid plan on the WordPress.com site, and the domain mapping upgrade. Then you need to log in at your domain provider and point the domain’s name servers to us, as explained here:

But if, as I suspect is the case here, you’ve built a WordPress site using the open source version of the software at another host, you need to contact that hosting provider to ask them their process for connecting a domain to a site on their servers.
