How do I remove Menu tabs at the top of my page?

I created a custom menu to add to my widgets. I created a title called “My favorite posts” and added the links to put in the menu. When I looked on my home page to view the menu, the links were not listed.
They were not listed under the menu title because I had forgotten to assign them to the menu title.
Instead, the links I added showed up at the top of my page!
So now I have 6 blog titles in separate boxes at the top of my page.
I have been all over trying to find out how to remove these links from the top of my page and I cannot. Help!
(I did go back and correctly enter the links again under my menu title and it worked.)

If you don’t want these menu items to appear in your navigation menu, then don’t assign the “Favorite Posts” menu to your primary theme location at Appearance -> Menus.
You can add this custom menu to your sidebar by using the Custom Menus widget instead:
