How do I set the number of posts to show on my page?
-
Hi, I recently made a new blog, Guards Gone Wild and I have been trying to find out how to set only a certain number of posts to appear on my page.
See, I am a lengthy writer so my posts end up long. If they all end up on the one page, it will slow loading time, so I have been trying to figure out how to set the number of posts to just 5 or so per page.
I did check previous support forum threads and they all advised going to the WP-admin page and going to Settings and then clicking on the Reading tab which will offer the post-setting option.
BUT my blog apparently doesn’t have the “Reading” tab. I went to Settings via my admin panel and all I saw were General, Writing, Discussion and Analytics. No Reading. And I checked the above 4 options. None of them offered to help with setting the number of posts per page.
What else can I do?
Also, what tabs should I be clicking on if I do not want the entire length of a post to appear on the page? Like, say, if I just want a few-line excerpt for each lengthy post I make.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
The number of posts displayed on the posts page is set at Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most ___ posts (or go directly to https://guardsgonewild.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php).

That’s odd. I activated the Twenty Fifteen theme on a test site and found 11 (eleven) items in the Settings menu, including Reading.

You can insert a More tag in a post using the Insert Read More tag tab in the post editor toolbar, in order to truncate a post on the posts page at the point where the tag is inserted.
