How do I stop emails being sent to followers about new posts?

  I’m making wholesale changes to an old site, which has a handful of followers. How do I make changes without them having to receive emails everytime? Can I unsubscribe them?

  If you set your site to be “private”, those emails will not be sent. Once you are finished, you can change it back to be “public” and the emails will be sent again.
