How do I transfer my domain from GoDaddy to WordPress.com?

I need to transfer an expired domain, createamelody.com, from GoDaddy to WordPress.com. I have completed the unlock process on GoDaddy’s side, but I need to be able to reregister it with or transfer it to your registry service. How do I go about this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have additionally already changed the remote nameservers to match WP.com’s based on the Domain Helper tool, and ensured that the Primary Domain was set properly (for redirect purposes). I still, of course, need to transfer ownership before this task will be finished. Please give further direction on this when possible.

Hi Jacob – WordPress.com can’t accept incoming domain transfers, I’m afraid. You’ll need to keep it registered with a third party and use our domain mapping upgrade to map it to your WordPress.com site.
Just let me know if you need further help.

In that case, is it possible to cancel the external registration entirely and then repurchase it through WP.com? It would be much easier for me and better for everyone involved if we can simply keep the registration through WP.com.

Hi Jacob, I strongly recommend that you NOT let your domain expire or cancel it, as you may never be able to re-register it ever again. The way domains work, it’s not possible to just cancel a domain at one registrar (or let it expire) and re-register it somewhere else. You can learn more here about the complex domain expiration process. Much of the information in that piece also applies to domain cancellations.
