How do I transfer my domain to another user?

If I have a domain that someone else wants, and I never used it and don’t want to have it anymore, what are the steps for giving the domain (a .wordpress.com domain) to the other user? How can I let them have it and cut all my ties to the domain?

If you are the person who registered the site, and while logged in with the account that did so, you can transfer the site to another WordPress.com user by following these instructions:
Transferring the site to another user does not empty the site of its current content, so you might want to do that first. http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

Also, if it is connected to any social media sites, such as twitter, facebook and the like, you will want to disconnect it in the Sharing options in your Dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
