How do I uncouple a new page from the parent page I accidentally added to it

    I posted a new page on my website and published it after entering a parent page that is already on my website. When I looked at the website the new page post is not visible as a separate heading and when I tried to share it on facebook, the wrong image shows (ie that of the parent page not that of the new page. How can I edit this so that the new page is no longer coupled to the parent page and so it comes up on my website separately and the featured image is the new one on the page itself?
