How Do I Use My Own Blog Design?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a design for my blog that I created myself. Is there a way for me to use it without having to pay for a custom design? I’ve always used Blogger and have been able to apply my custom designs at no charge, so I figured there’d be a way to do so on WordPress.

Also, would I be able to integrate my PayPal business account, shopping cart included, for the services and a few products I’ll be offering? Would I have to pay for that, as well?

I also have my own domains registered through another party that I wish to be displayed instead of the wordpress.com URL. Is that possible?

Thanks for any help. I’m completely new to WordPress and have scoured help pages and even the WordPress Bible book I bought and I’m simply not seeing a way to use WordPress in the manner I wish for free.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to use a custom design on a WordPress.com blog. You might be able to use it on a WordPress.ORG blog with paid hosting.

YOu can’t use a shopping cart but you can use the Buy It Now button on Paypal if you follow the instructions here in the Support documents. The exception is if you buy the $300 a year Business upgrade.

You can map an external domain to a WP.com blog by purchasing the Domain Mapping update and following the instructions in the Support documents.

Please review the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, which you will find on the main page of the Support documents.
