How do I use my wordpress-registered domain name for another website?

  At the start of the year, I registered the domain name http://www.ameliagraylampwork.com with WordPress. I now find myself needing to be able to use that domain name for a non-wordpress website, and need to link it with the IP address 199.34.228.56. I have tried several times to do this through the standard domain settings on the dashboard, but it still isn’t working. Please would your team be able to change this manually, or send me clear instructions on how to do this myself?

  To point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), please follow the instructions here:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/#changing-domain-name-servers

  Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

  I have contacted Weebly support, and they do not ‘do’ name servers. I would really appreciate it if your team could configure my domain name, or give me clear instructions on how to do this. I have tried to follow your standard instructions, and I’m afraid that I am at a dead end.

  Weebly requires a root-level A Record change for your domain, but domains registered at WordPress do not have the option to change the root-level A record.

  If you want to use the domain with them, you will need to try one of the following options instead:

  1. New Registrar

  Transfer the domain out to another registrar that allows a root-level A record change. This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar.

  Domain Management

  2. Subdomain

  Use a subdomain instead of root domain. An example of a subdomain is “blog.example.com”. To create a subdomain, please follow the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/
