How do you download a theme to your site — and a static home page.
-
Download a theme. It doesn’t show up on my site. How create a static home page that downloads to the site. Chose the free wordpress.com hosted route. Also, account settings won’t allow me to use my preferred email address. Any help? Let me know. Really frustrated newbie who has wasted a lot of time trying to learn this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looks like the theme Eden, which was in the introductory material online by WordPress is no longer in operation so found out how to download one that is (so it shows up onsite). Looks like when I tried to learn WordPress last year, I included an email address that I hadn’t set up yet. Now, as I’m looking at changing my Internet/cable provider, I want to use that gmail account, which I have set up, but that WordPress recognizes from before so won’t let me change the email in my account information. Now, do I need t set up yet another email address to use for account information so I can get comments on the site etc.?
Also would like to delete the first “posting” I did, which I did when I was trying to set up my home page. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.

This is wordpress.COM support. This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
There is no FTP access to any wordpress.com sites. The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.See:
Themes »Uploading Custom Themes
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/WordPress.com sites have some built in plugins http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/. However, if you are reading anything that makes you think that we bloggers can install plugins, advertising, custom themes or third party themes on sites hosted by wordpress.COM, then you are mistaken/misinformed. We have never had that ability. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG installs on paid hosting.
Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/See: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress
https://move.wordpress.com/Be keenly aware that you cannot transfer any theme from https://wordpress.com/themes/ which is licensed and adapted to run on WordPress.COM software to a WordPress.ORG site, and visa versa. The two run on different software and have different versions of themes with the same names.

Oops! Sorry about typing that first sentence twice above.
Are your referring to http://mountprospectblog.wordpress.com/ which is hosted by WordPress.COM?
Every theme has a detailed theme description page like this one is at https://wordpress.com/themes/baskerville-2/ That’s where set up instructions for it are found. The live demo site is at https://baskerville2demo.wordpress.com/

There is a single email address that can be used on only one wordpress.COM username account and not on any others, regardless of how many blogs are registered under that username account.
The wordpress.COM blog’s owner can change the relevant email address on their accounts page at https://wordpress.com/me/account at any time.

Time thief: Thanks so much for taking the time to address my problems getting started with WordPress. I’ll use your guidance and spend more time trying to get on board soon. I’ve burned up many hours so far getting no very far with the system I even took out a few books from the library and watched a bunch of WordPress tutorials. I appreciate your help and knowing there are people out there who are willing to help newbies, such as myself.
