How do you make money on your WordPress blog using WooCommerce?
-
I had installed the WooCommerce plugin in my WordPress blog. But, have difficulty adding my payment method on WooCommerce Payments settings. I don’t know what products to sell on WooCommerce.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The setup issues with WooCommerce Payments usually happen because the platform requires complete identity or business verification before unlocking configuration options. If you hit a roadblock there, you can easily bypass it by installing standard PayPal or Stripe extensions under Plugins > Add New instead. For a gaming blog, the best items to sell are digital products or merchandise—you can offer downloadable strategy guides, e-books, or custom stream graphics. Alternatively, you can use a print-on-demand plugin (like Printful) to sell custom mugs, t-shirts, and mousepads with your branding, completely eliminating the need to manage physical inventory!”

Hi there, I understand it can be a little overwhelming when you’re setting up your store for the first time.
Could you let us know which payment method you’re trying to add? Also, what error are you seeing when you try to add it? If possible, please share the exact error message or a screenshot so we can investigate further.
We understand you’re still figuring out what products you’d like to sell. If your site is focused on gaming, you could consider selling items such as gaming merchandise, branded apparel, gaming accessories, digital downloads (where applicable), gaming guides, or other gaming-related products. We recommend having a clear idea of the products you’d like to offer and adding a few products to your site before completing your store setup. Please note that WooPayments requires identity and business verification as part of the signup process.
Once we know which payment method you’re trying to add and the error you’re encountering, we’ll be happy to help you get everything set up.

I tried to add a Debit Card payment method, and now it’s just says, “(Required)”. It just shows that the total balance is $0.00. So, it’s probably fixed. How can I sell some gaming items you suggested on my blog?

It’s great to hear the payment method issue seems to be sorted! Just to make sure everything is fully set up — when you say it shows “(Required)” with a $0.00 balance, could you confirm whether you’ve completed the full WooPayments onboarding, including the identity and business verification steps? You can check your setup status by going to Payments > Overview in your WooCommerce dashboard. If you see any pending verification steps there, you’ll want to complete those before you can start accepting payments. Here’s a guide that walks through the full setup: https://woocommerce.com/document/woopayments/
As for selling gaming items on your blog, here’s how to get started:
- Go to Products > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.
- Choose a product type — for a gaming blog, some great options are:
- Simple products — physical items like gaming accessories, custom merchandise (t-shirts, mugs, mousepads), or collectibles.
- Downloadable/digital products — gaming strategy guides, e-books, wallpapers, or custom stream graphics. You upload the file and customers get a download link after purchase.
- Fill in the details — add a product name, description, price, and images.
- Publish — and it’ll appear in your store!
This guide walks you through the whole process step by step: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-products/
If you’re interested in selling custom-branded merchandise (like t-shirts or mugs) without managing inventory, you could also look into print-on-demand services that integrate with WooCommerce — they handle printing and shipping for you.
Once you’ve added a few products and confirmed your WooPayments setup is complete, you’ll be ready to start selling. Let us know if you run into any questions along the way!

It doesn’t show Payments>Overview in WooCommerce dashboard. Also, I’m not sure where I can find identity, and business verification steps.

I went to Payments>Overview on WordPress Dashboard, edit details, and WooPayments. But, it still says $0.00. Maybe, I had verified it already. Maybe, I should start selling gaming products now. But, how?

Hi there!
Thanks for letting us know.
The $0.00 in your WooPayments means that you haven’t done any sales yet. Also, it seems like the account is already verified and ready to be used.
About the products, you will need to create the products you would like to sell from scratch. You can follow these steps to create new products: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-products/add-product/#adding-a-simple-product -
You could start by taking a course on “Build your store with WooCommerce” at https://wordpress.com/support/courses/build-your-store-with-woocommerce/

What kind of gaming merchandise, branded apparel, gaming accessories, digital downloads (where applicable), gaming guides, or other gaming-related products should I sell? Where can I get t-shirts to sell on my site?

Hi there,
Thanks for following up! Great to see you’re ready to start adding products to your store.
Deciding what to sell and where to source products from is a business decision that falls outside our technical support scope, so we’re not able to make those specific recommendations. That said, we can absolutely point you to tools that make it easy to add products to your WooCommerce store once you’ve decided.
For t-shirts and other branded merchandise, a print-on-demand service like Printful is a popular option. Printful lets you create your own custom designs and sell them without inventory or upfront costs. You design the products, and Printful handles the printing, packaging, and shipping directly to your customers under your brand. You can create a Printful account for free, connect it to your WooCommerce store, and when a customer places an order, it’s automatically imported to Printful for fulfillment. This means you don’t need to stock or ship anything yourself.
Another option to look into is dropshipping, where you partner with a supplier who ships products directly to your customers on your behalf. WooCommerce has a guide that walks through the entire process, from finding a good supplier to setting up your store for this type of business.
I’d recommend starting small. Pick a few products, like custom t-shirts with your gaming brand, and test them out before expanding your catalogue.

Hi there,
Thanks for checking in again.
Great job creating your first 4 products. Once a product is created and published in WooCommerce, it should be added to your store automatically and appear on your Shop page.
You can check this by going to: Products > All Products
Then open each product and confirm that:
- The product status is set to Published
- The product has a price
- The product has a product image
- The catalog visibility is set to show in the shop
You can also view your store by opening your site and going to the Shop page. In many cases, this will be: yourdomain.com/shop
WooCommerce has a guide for adding and managing products here:
https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-products/add-product/
The Shop page is where your WooCommerce products are normally displayed. You can learn more about WooCommerce store pages here:
https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-pages/
Since you have also downloaded the Printful plugin, the next step is to connect your Printful account to your WooCommerce store. Printful lets you create products like t shirts, hoodies, mugs, and other items, then send them to your WooCommerce store.
You can follow Printful’s WooCommerce setup steps here: https://woocommerce.com/document/printful/
You can also review Printful’s WooCommerce integration page here:
https://www.printful.com/integrations/woocommerce
In short, the usual Printful setup is:
- Create or log in to your Printful account
- Connect Printful to your WooCommerce store
- Choose products from the Printful catalog
- Add your designs
- Push those products from Printful to WooCommerce
- Check the products under Products > All Products in your WordPress dashboard
- Place a test order when you are ready
If the 4 products you created were made directly in WooCommerce, they should appear on your store once they are published. If you created them inside Printful, you will need to push or sync them from Printful to WooCommerce first.
Please try checking Products > All Products and your Shop page first. If the products don’t appear. Let us know.
