where does portfolio appear on my blog? How do other people view them? for each project, can i add more posts to them or it would be just updating the same post over and over? What portfolio is for in general in comparison to regular posts?

There is a whole section of the support documentation on portfolio content type at this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/ Do not think posts – think pages please, as they have no RSS feeds.
There are also two themes:

I did go through that page. But it only talks about how to set up a portfolio. nothing about where it appears on my blog and how it functions. I can’t find my portfolio on my site as a visitor. I don’t really get how it suppose to work. If you have a minute, please elaborate for me please.

I am sorry but your blog is private. I don’t have a clue which theme you are using or what you have done. I don’t know if you consulted the detailed theme descriptions for the themes I linked to above or not and also checked out the live demo sites for the themes so you know how portfolios are displayed on them. That’s why I cannot elaborate and it’s why I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks timethief.
My blog is public if you can go and visit again. I tried all themes including the ones you listed above. I just cant find the links to portfolio pages on my site. The posts are listed on the left or right, which is easy to spot. But there are no links to portfolios on my site whatsoever. I’m currently using the default twenty fourteen theme.
here’s the link to my testing portfolio page. http://teteatete2014.wordpress.com/portfolio/monthly-beauty-subscription-reviews/

Hi again,
I’m multitasking form my business and don’t have the time or attention span it takes to sort this. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting. -
Ok. Thanks for your help nevertheless. I really appreciate that you replied. ;)
by the way, I visited your site. The pages you have next to “about” seem to be loaded with codes. I had a difficult time loading them. When it finally did, my chrome explorer got frozen and had to kill to page, just your page. Thought you may want to know.

P.S. What you are describing about my site is not happening to me using 3 different computers running Firefox 28, Chrome 32 or IE 11 for me so I think you have a browser related issue.
-
I’m not sure. All I know is the pages didn’t load properly and I have no problems with any other sites. But since I’m new to wordpress, there’s still a lot things I need to learn.

Portfolios are usually geared to projects with a visual component, like a portfolio of art pieces, graphic design work, etc.
I see that you’ve added one portfolio item, but it’s just a text post.
Did you have an actual portfolio you wanted to add, like a collection of images?
You can view your portfolio archive on your site like this:
https://teteatete2014.wordpress.com/portfolio/
Since it’s a text post and not an image, it doesn’t look much different than a regular blog post.
for each project, can i add more posts to them or it would be just updating the same post over and over?
For each portfolio, you an add new projects under Portfolio > Add New.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
