how long to become active

I have paid to make my blog address [domain removed for privacy] after I originally set it up as crumblinghouses.wordpress.com last Wednesday but since then I have not been able to access the blog.. although I have been able to access the settings I thought it would take a few days to become active , but it has now been a week.
why am I not able to see my blog site, if I am waiting for it to become active how long will it take ?

Hi there, it looks like you purchased domain mapping, but didn’t actually register the domain, which is still available.
In order for a domain to be mapped, you need to actually own the domain, whether you register it through WordPress.com or another registrar. The mapping upgrade points the domain to your WordPress.com site, but it doesn’t actually register the domain itself.
I’ve removed the domain mapping upgrade for now and given you $13 in credits so you can try again. Here are the instructions for registering a new domain. Your credit will be applied automatically on checkout.

hi thank you for you reply. you said that crumblinghouses.com is still available but for some reason it says that it has already been registered.
could I have done this some how with out knowing it ?

When I searched for the domain earlier today, it showed as available, but now it’s showing as registered back in 2005. I must have made a mistake earlier – my apologies. You might try searching for variations of that domain instead, to find one that hasn’t yet been registered.
