How may I seamlessly transfer my domain from Miva to WordPress?

I manage an e-commerce website through MivaMerchant with a domain from GoDaddy. I would like to register with wordpress.org and create/design a new web page that will replace the old site once complete/operational. I first need to register so that I may install the plugins that will assist me in designing the site. We would like to keep the same domain name for cohesiveness, so registering a different domain name with WordPress is not an option.
How could/should I go about doing this?

I would like to register with wordpress.org
You don’t register with WordPress.org per se. You do have to hire a webhost and install the software there.
But for any assistance with WordPress software you will need to post to the correct forum which is http://wordpress.org/support/
