How to add an attachment page to a widget
-
Hello,
I had a quick question regarding my Creative Arts page. A few years ago I was able to attach a page to a widget allowing visitors to click on the widget and automatically be redirected to the page. However, I can’t seem to remember how I did that or if something’s changed that’s no longer allowing me to add a page.
Secondly, I also noticed that when I’m in Customize mode, if I click on a widget then I’m redirected to a normal page as shown in the first picture below. However, if I’m not in Customize mode or not signed in, then I’m redirected to a dark background where I have to click on an “i” icon in order to see what I have written. Is there a way for me to have a normal page show up as depicted in the first image?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s common to feel like something has changed because the WordPress “Widget” editor has indeed evolved into a block-based system over the last few years. The mismatch you’re seeing between Customize mode and Live view confirms that your widgets are currently pointing to the Media Attachment Page instead of your actual Creative Arts page. On artoflearningtobe.wordpress.com, the “dark background” you see is likely the Jetpack Carousel or an attachment page template, which isolates the image rather than showing your written content. To restore the automatic redirection, go to Appearance → Widgets, click on the specific Image or Gallery block, and in the toolbar that appears, click the Link (paperclip) icon to replace “Attachment Page” with a “Custom URL” pointing directly to your page. Additionally, if you want images to open as normal pages rather than full-screen dark overlays, you can go to Settings → Media and toggle the “Display images in a full-screen carousel” to OFF, ensuring your visitors see your text immediately without having to click an “i” icon.
