How to add www to custom domain name?
-
Hello. I currently purchased domain registration with GoDaddy. The domain is optovisioncare.com
I also upgraded so that the domain name is mapped to this WordPress blog. Right now, when you type in “www.optovisioncare.com” the domain name changes to “optovisioncare.com”. I would like to change it so that the “www” part still remains. Please advise.
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
WordPress.com automatically removes the “www” from all URLs for domains mapped to WordPress.com blogs. Your domain, http://www.optovisioncare.com, will always be redirected to http://optovisioncare.com.
Redirecting the first version of your URL to the second version helps to ensure that search engines index your site properly. Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)

Hi!
Thanks for responding!
Does this mean there is no way to customize that process so that the www remains when it is redirected?
Also, another question… How can I edit the favicon of the page?
I really appreciate your help!

Hi Chloe,
No, there’s no way to customize that process — the “www” will always be removed. However, visitors to your site can use either address (with or without the “www”) and they’ll always be directed to your site.
Also, another question… How can I edit the favicon of the page?
You can edit your site’s favicon by adding what we call a Blavatar for the site. You can do that in your site’s dashboard, under Settings > General. In the upper right on that page, under “Blog Picture / Icon,” you can upload an image to use as your site’s favicon.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
