How to change front page from 4 columns with sidebar with two columns instead?

I want to change front page appearance from 4 columns (newspaper format) plus sidebar, to two or three columns plus sidebar.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Karen,
The Suburbia theme you’re using is designed to show those 4 columns on the front page. There isn’t a built-in way to change that design with this theme.
If you’d like, you can set some of your blog posts to be sticky posts. Those sticky posts will appear larger (with fewer columns) at the top of the page, and the rest of your posts will appear underneath in the 4-column format. You can see how that looks on the Suburbia demo site.
Alternately, you can check out the theme showcase to see if a different theme will work better for you. You can use the filters to narrow down the themes. For example, here are the themes with more than 2 columns (total, including the sidebar):

I’d recommend checking out the Sunspot theme, which has your choice of one or two columns plus two optional sidebars. :)
