how to copy and overwrite 2 pages from one domain to another?

    hi! we have this scenario:

    – we have a total three wordpress sites as follows (1) local (2) on x host (3) on y host
    – the plan is to move away from x and move to y
    – we set up everything locally and update the site on y
    – sites on x and y use same theme and pretty much replicas
    – we need to move 2 pages (eg. home and home 2) from x to y!

    Each time we use the import/export we are getting lots of duplication.

    Deleting the pages in WP beforehand on y does not seem to help.

    Is there a way to export just the two pages and when importing enforce and overwrite?

    Hi there,

    If you are using WordPress with another hosting provider (or via localhost) that is actually a different version of the WordPress platform, and behaves differently from the custom service we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a custom import/export process on WordPress.com and can’t assist with imports/exports on other WordPress sites as they use a different tool than the one we are familiar with.

    Since you mentioned (1) local (2) on x host (3) on y host it sounds like you are referring to sites that are using the free open-source version of WordPress on another provider, and not sites on WordPress.com. We’re not able to help with those but the good news is that you can get help here at the open-source WordPress forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

    Understood – thank you for that! Clearly I needed some spoonfeeding and you are indeed correct and the (2) and (3) are Godaddy and Bluehost respectively using the free version. thanks again.

    No worries, it’s admittedly not very clear without some explanation. To further clarify, the support forum I linked above will be able to help with both your GoDaddy and Bluehost sites, as well as the localhost site, as they all run the same free open-source version of the WordPress software.
