How to create new free wordpress.com subdomain

  Hi, I had this account from many years ago and deleted my old site from WP. Now I have an account 0 sites. When I go to add a new site it is asking me to purchase a domain but doesn’t give me the option of making a wordpress subdomain. How do I make another free wordpress subdomain?
