How to crystalize a site? No update, no themes, no editing NO HACKING

    Hello, WordPress community,

I’m a low user who enjoys creating websites as a hobby and as favours for friends and family, without any financial compensation. Lately, I’ve been facing persistent issues with my sites, particularly landing pages designed to showcase activities.

These sites frequently fall victim to hackers and malware, leading me to constantly manage backups, restore sites, and handle plugins that tamper with the code. This has become quite a time-consuming task, and it’s not something I signed up for.

Since my landing pages don’t involve practical interactions with the external world (no comments or posts), except for the contact page, I’m wondering if there’s a way to effectively block and freeze the data and files. I’d like to implement a system where no one can make changes unless the site is unlocked by a password or specific permissions.

This also applies with updates, the best way to maintain a site clean is to activate automatic update, which is also the best way to crash a site apparently :D, so I do not want to update anything, I want the code of 1995 :D but NO ONE should change it.

I’m hoping to find a one-click solution or a simple method to achieve this. Any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

The problems you are having have nothing to do with landing pages etc. There is no magical one-click solution.

It’s obvious you have a serious security problem on your server and probably the wordpress and plugins and themes versions you are using. It’s very important to keep wordpress, plugins and themes most up to date. Regarding the server issues, you must contact your hosting support.

    Hello staartmees,

Thank you for your input and concern. I appreciate your expertise in highlighting the importance of keeping WordPress, plugins, and themes up to date, but that’s a common practice. However, it seems there might be a slight miscommunication regarding my request.

I acknowledge the significance of regular updates for security purposes, but my intention is to explore options for locking down the site to prevent unauthorized changes without resorting to constant updates. I’m seeking a solution that allows me to freeze the data and files, requiring a password or specific permissions for any modifications.

If you have insights or suggestions related to implementing such a security measure, I would greatly appreciate your expertise in that specific area. You mentioned that there are no one-click solutions, so I suppose you know for sure the other non-one-click solutions right? Share them with us, please.

Thank you for your understanding and collaboration.
