How to customize e-mail notifications sent to blog followers?

    How can I customize the e-mail notifications sent to followers of my blog? the e-mail notifications look great when received by those with gmail, but does not show up as nicely when the e-mail recipient has Microsoft Exchange. Does it have something to do with the e-mail notifications being sent in HTML vs plain text?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    All e-mail notification are being sent out in HTML. It’s not possible to customise these.

    There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.
