How to delete CNAME record * managed by wordpress?
-
Hi, I purchased this domain through wordpress http://www.dearelaine.co but I am directing it to Shopify. Today Shopify notified me of the issue of the CNAME: * and wants me to delete it but I am unable to because it says it is “handled by WordPress”. How can i delete it?
Thanks,

I am having similar issues, but with Proton Mail’s setup process, so I am following this thread.

Thanks for getting in touch. The wildcard CNAME record in your domain ensures that if anyone incorrectly types your domain (like ww instead of www), they are properly redirected to the www version of the domain, which loads your correct site.
We understand Shopify recently started asking their site owners to remove this CNAME record. As they mentioned, your Shopify site will continue to function even with this wildcard DNS record in place; you may just continue to see the error message in your dashboard.
We’re currently working on a solution to remove the wildcard CNAME record, and I’ve noted your domain and account details to follow up with you when there is one.
I appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Setting up Proton Mail should not require the wildcard CNAME record to be removed. Since your situation is a little different (it’s not specific to a Shopify site), could you post a new thread at this link? https://wordpress.com/forums/?new=1
We’ll be happy to look into it further for you.
Thanks!

Hi, @leenialestore! 👋🏼
You can now remove the wildcard
CNAMErecord from your domain DNS records at WordPress.com so you can use it with your Shopify site! 😊💡 To configure your domain for Shopify, please follow the instructions from this guide with annotated screenshots:
