Thank you for your reply. The domain that I mention is the one that I bought from other provider. Then I tried to connect it to my paid wordpress.com site. Now I want to delete it and use other domain.

  • Hi there,

Firstly, you will want to set a new primary address. To do that you can click on the ‘…’ next to the domain you want to be the new primary address, and you will see the option in the dropdown.

Once you have done that, polarisgroup.my will redirect to the new address, so not traffic is lost. From there you can either leave the redirect in place, or ask the admin that originally set up the polarisgroup.my connection to remove it.

To clarify, the domain connection upgrade for polarisgroup.my is not listed under your account (or you would see it here) so to remove it you will need to access the account that set up the upgrade initially or ask them to remove it on your behalf.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi there. Thank you for your reply.

The reason I want to delete the domain was I want to reconnect the domain back to wordpress. Because it was not properly configured. Now the domain did not point to wordpress.

I cannot find any documentation about the details of A record & CNAME record for advance setup.

I don’t recommend deleting the domain for this. Once you’re logged into the account that owns the domain connection, though, we can help as needed.

Does this one help? If you’re using our DNS this should help; you can also toggle an option to let WordPress.com manage your CNAME and A record. You’ll need to be logged into an account that has access:

I am sorry this does not help since we use our own DNS manager not from WordPress. I am the owner of the domain. But the WordPress.com account has other admin in control.

Can someone just please tell me where to point the A record? Why is this is not available in all of your help docs?

  • Hi there,

Can someone just please tell me where to point the A record? Why is this is not available in all of your help docs?

To clarify, because we use a network of web servers, the IP address for the A record can vary. It’s not possible to account for that in our documentation.

As a part of the process we describe here, the owner of the site must set up the domain so that it is ready to be ‘mapped’ or connected on our end. When the site owner does this, we email them the IP addresses they will need to connect the domain correctly.

What is the new URL that you are trying to connect? Can you have the owner of the site follow the steps here to add a domain connection for that URL? Here is the steps you can ask them to follow: Step 1: Add the Domain

Once they have done that we will be better able to help, but it’s not possible to assist you with connecting this new domain until it is added first by the site owner.

    Thanks for the additional info!
