How to disconnect two WordPress accounts
-
Hello,
I accidentally set up a new WordPress site under my personal account which is linked to another site I am using as a personal blog. The problem is I was creating the new site as a collaborative blog with a couple other people and don’t want the collaborative blog affiliated with my personal one and my personal email, username, password, etc. I thought about deleting my second account and starting over, but read that the domain would be lost if I were to do that. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could set up a new profile and transfer the second WordPress account to it or how I should go about fixing this issue? Thank you in advance for all your help!!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
It sounds like you are trying to disconnect two sites that are presently in one account rather than “disconnect two accounts.” Do I misunderstand? If I’m correct, then you could fix this issue by transferring the second site to another account. If necessary, the first step would be to create a separate account, to be used for the collaborative blog. The new account would have a different email address, username, password, etc. than your personal accout. Then, you would follow the instructions in the Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account support page.
A custom domain is attached to a website. When you transfer the website to another account, the domain goes with it. In other words, the domain is not lost or otherwise affected by the transfer. However, note that Step 3 of the instructions in the Transferring a Site to Another WP.com Account support page says:
Check the inbox of the email address your WordPress.com account is registered to. Open the email we’ve sent you and click the link it contains to finish the transfer.
Your blog transfer will not be completed until you click the link.
If your site includes a custom domain you will not receive an email immediately, but will hear from a WordPress.com Happiness Engineer shortly to complete your transfer.

Thank you so much! I followed your instructions and have one more question. After going through creating a new account and followed how to transfer the information I hit the varification email link, however it came up with a screen saying I was longged in to my new account and didn’t have access to the site I had just transferred. It said if I needed further access I would need to ask the administrator of the site that sent it… Is there any other steps I can take? Or do I need to wait to hear from someone besides myself? ( I don’t have any other advisers I am running this on my own with no other administrator)

The support page I quoted from above says

You didn’t receive an email message regarding this yet did you? I think you should wait to hear from a WP.com Happiness Engineer as it suggests. But you could also add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention. A staff member might be able to tell you exactly what to expect, and what you should do.
