How to get file url for images in media library to display full-size image?

When I click on the file url for images in my media library, my web-browser displays a small version of the image, not the full size. This was not the case back in February of 2015. When I used to click on the image on this post (https://myrsbytes.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/a-pipit-and-four-duck-species/), I would get the full sized image but now I get a small image. I have no idea what happened. A blog I follow does not have this problem: https://wildlifeweeks.wordpress.com/. Clicking on an image links to the file url and the full sized image is displayed.

    Hi,
I was able to get to the full size of the ducks image in the post https://myrsbytes.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/a-pipit-and-four-duck-species/. It takes two clicks to display the full file size, which I find is the case with extra large images on my site as well. The file size of img_3529c is 2131 x 1067 pixels.

    Hi,
Thanks for looking into my issue. I tried double-clicking but I still get a small version of the picture. I’ve found a few other sights were clicking the image opens the full size image. If the full size image is bigger than the screen, a little magnifying glass shows up. I wish I could figure out how to get that functionality.

That fact that I was able to see the full size file image with a double click suggests that it’s a local issue. Have you considered whether it might be a browser issue? Have you tried clearing the browser cache, or updating the browser? Different browser, different device, etc.?

Hi. Thanks for offering further suggestions. I tried clearing the cache and browser history – that didn’t work. I tried using Firefox instead of Chrome and that worked. However, Chrome was working for everyone else’s website except my own, so I knew it wasn’t a Chrome issue. At some point, I noticed that a little magnifying glass showed up next to the “favorites star” in my browser’s url bar whenever I opened the file url of one of my wordpress images. For some reason, their magnification was set to 33%. I returned it to the default setting (full image size or screen size if the screen is smaller) and now my image files show up large like everyone else’s. Yay! I have no idea how the magnification for my images got set to 33% but I’m glad this is no longer an issue.

You’re welcome. Glad you were able to detect the cause, and resolve the issue.
