How to get the oxygen slider to work

Ready to sigh.
My collegues and I have been working on getting the slider in Oxygen to work for 5 weeks now. Don’t laugh. We are frustrated and thinking about going with another program. I would love to get some advice:
We have set up a home page and blog page. The home page is static as directed in settings. (blog for posts). we have set a featured image and uploaded images into the home and blog. the full screen option displays the pictures but the showcase option is blank. Please help
