How to have continue reading option

  Dear Friends,
  On some of my longer posts, I want to have an option of continue reading after 5-6 lines , so that not much space is taken by one post and those who want to read the whole post click on continue reading to expand the post. I have seen many bloggers do that..
  Iam struggling to do that myself..
  Can anybody help?????
