How to link a domain to a new wordpress blog.
-
Hello, I currently own the domain “gardencityhistory.com”, and have it associated with the wordpress site “http://gardencityhistorygroup.wordpress.com”. This is a community history blog I used to manage, but now want to pass administration over to someone else. Can you tell me how I change the domain “gardencityhistory.com” to link with the a new wordpress site “http://gardencityhistory.wordpress.com” (note the omission of ‘group’). I hope that makes sense. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have a similar challenge for sylvawoodunderthestars WordPress blog and want to use the domain http://www.underthestars.net.nz which I own. Can’t see any way of doing this. WordPress offers only the URL http://www.sylvawoodunderthestars.com. Waiting to hear your answer as it will probably solve my dilemma.

@ gardencityhistory – If you’d like, we can transfer the entire site at gardencityhistorygroup.wordpress.com, including its custom domain gardencityhistory.com, to a new user. That way you can pass the administration to someone else without having to create a new site.
Either way, we’ll need the WordPress.com user who currently owns the site and domain to contact us from that account to request the transfer. (Right now, that site and domain are not linked to your gardencityhistory account.) Please let me know if you have any questions about that!
@ sylvawoodunderthestars – You can use a domain that you already own with your WordPress.com site by following this guide: Map an Existing Domain
If you have any questions about that, please start a new forum thread so we can track your request. Thanks!
