How to make more posts appear on my homepage

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear WordPress Team,

Currently there are 3 slots for new posts on my homepage and I need to make an adjustment so that more of them (probably 10) can appear there. I have followed the instructions in other forum posts by going to Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most and changing the number, but it did not work on my site. It could not be due to unsaved changes, since I clearly remember saving before reloading my site.

My site is at irinabougainvillea.wordpress.com, and I am using the Gateway theme.

I hope this minor problem can be fixed as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.

    Irina

  • Hi Irina,

The setting you refer to only applies to the page on the site set as the posts page. You don’t currently have a posts page set on your site.

The Gateway theme you’re using has a special front page template, and that template can display up to 3 featured posts on your site. You assign a post as featured by assigning a special featured tag to the post. If you don’t designate any post as featured, it will show the 3 most recent posts instead. This is explained in the theme support page at https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway

There is no way to have the front page template display more than 3 posts.

If you want a posts page that lists all posts on your site, publish a new page without any content. You can title the page whatever you want.

Then go to My Site ->Design ->Customize ->Homepage Settings, and select the new page you created under the Posts Page heading.
