How to make my featured images smaller in blog post

    I have a new website which I am starting and I find that the large featured image in my blog posts are too big. I want them to be smaller and cannot figure out how to do this.

    A friend of mine suggested maybe setting a maximum height for a clear ‘div’ and then have the featured image as a centred background for that div.

    Does anyone know how to code this in my style sheet please?
