How to make new post auto-emails text-only, or accessible to blind readers?

    How do I customize the auto-emails that go out with each new blog post? The current auto-email comes out in an HTML version that is inaccessible to blind and visually-impaired readers who use screen readers. How can we modify these so that they are text based and readable?

    We are using the WordPress version so we cannot install plugins like Subscribe2 which would allow us to do this.

    At this time, the emails cannot be customized, but we are currently working to improve their accessibility.
