How to make site content appear in the site description when searching by google

    Dear WordPress community,

Our COMDEKs website still appears as the first hit when googling “COMDEKS.” However, no site description is provided/no content of the website is automatically shared in the description space. It appears this is because we have a robot file:

    http://comdeksproject.com/robots.txt

How can we get rid of this so that site description for the website automatically appears when searching on google?

    Best,
    Rachel

Do you mean the description which is displayed as part of your header image? Easy: take it out of the header image, because Google does not really read images. Put it in the Tagline for the website.

    Dear raincoaster,

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I’m not the one directly managing the content for the website, just the blog, but I suppose there is a setting then to adjust the tagline for the website on wordpress.com?

I just want to correct this when searching in google with “COMDEKs”

    COMDEKS website
    comdeksproject.com/
A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt – learn more.

I was told by removing the robot.txt, content from the site would automatically appear (perhaps a few sentences or so) as a description…I am just wondering how to do that but if there is way to do that manually such as adding a tagline feel free to let me know..thanks!!

On the Settings->Reading page of your dashboard, do you have it set to allow indexing by search engines?

You can add the tagline on the Settings->General page, and I believe in most themes you can click to have it hidden rather than displayed. That option might be on the Header page of the dashboard.
