How to open your old forgotten website files
-
It is years since I set up some web-sites in WP, and I totally forget how to enter. I want to rejuvenate them.

Hi there,
Can you please let me know the addresses of those sites so I can point you in the right direction of getting support?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to ask for help from your hosting provider.

Thanks.
Wordpress has really changed since I was last using it actively (15-20 years ago).
I have always had my own hosting, so I guess there was no confusion then with .org and .com. -
I have opened a .com account a few days ago – hoping to start from scratch. However I find it (the base level) too stiff and restricted.
Is there any way that I can transfer my old sites (in the theme “Thesis”) over to my .com account? -
Hi there,
You can migrate the content of an existing, stand-alone WordPress site, to a new WordPress.com site by exporting it at WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export on the existing site, and uploading the file at My Site ->Tools ->Import.
But that will only migrate the content, i.e. posts, pages, media, comments. We don’t support full-site imports, as WordPress.com does not work exactly the same as the open source version, and your site’s core and theme files here are shared with other sites, so allowing you to import those from elsewhere could have an effect on other people’s sites as well.
Using a non-WordPress.com theme like Thesis here would also require our Business Plan:
