How to reset theme to original?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve been deleting and editing blocks and pages on a theme and I want to reset it back to default or original layout of the theme. Is there a way to do it and how can I do it? TIA

  • Hi @raechgy, sure. Add a new page and you should see the option you like in one of the templates. When you’re satisfied with your edits, publish the page.

Then, if you needed to fix the front page, you can make that the new front page (Customize > Front Page Settings) and delete the old one.

If it wasn’t the front page before, you can delete the old page. You will want to double check to be sure your menu links correctly too. Here’s how to fix it if needed:

    Menus

And of course if you get stuck, just update us here with what happened and we’ll point you in the right direction.

  • Oh, I just realized too, you’ve changed your theme a lot. The current one isn’t block based, so its setup will be a bit different.

Do you remember which theme you liked best? I see you’ve tried these:
    Hever
    Brompton
    Libretto
    Apostrophe 2
    Maywood
    AltoFocus
    and
    Radcliffe 2

You can see all of them here:

Hi @supernovia, thank you for your reply. I have tried your suggestion of adding a page and using a home page template. Sadly, I wasn’t able to find the Canard homepage. I really liked the “Featured” part of it where it showed the image and the title of your post. I’m really hoping that there was a way to get the home page of Canard back. TIA.

  • The Canard homepage you refer to is when you set the posts page as front page, rather than using a static page.

So activate Canard, then go to the Customizer ->Homepage Settings, and change the option at the top for the front page to show your latest posts.
